Hello Fellow Collectors!
Today I would like to share with you all our Seth Thomas and Sons "No. 8026" Mantel Clock. Seth Thomas was manufacturing clocks in America since 1813. In 1865 Seth Thomas’s Sons & Company was formed as a joint corporation with the purpose of manufacturing high grade French imitation movements/clocks. These were very well constructed movements which ran 15 days or twice a month between windings. Most antique clocks of the period ran for 8-days or one week between windings. The clock is 18 inches in height and strikes the hour as well as the half-hour on a beautifully resonant, crisp sounding cup bell.
The Statuette is of a young lady who is evidently a musician with some type of wood wind instrument, possibly a clarinet. There appears to be some sheet music in her lap. Other than that, what or who she possibly represents, I do not know.
Our example of this model has been nicely refinished with dark brown base and gold highlights which replicate a slightly worn, antique finish. It came to us that way.
I hope you enjoyed our "Minuet", as we call her.
Thanks for stopping by and for your time (if you've read this far)
