    U.S. Navy Mystery Device

Was recently at my local estate wholesaler and saw this device. Not sure what it is? Maybe a sewing device, like for embroidery or a stamping machine? Any guesses? About the size of a small tool box with H&R 5711 on bottom. Can't seem to find anything..

Kinda looks like it might be a "winder" for something (wire, thread, ??) that could maybe make coils, or measure them, or fill spools? A nifty little machine, whatever it is?! :-) :-) :-)

Maybe..the little piece that looks like a lathe tool rest, seems moves back and forth, or rather possibly likke a shuttle in weaving.

I remember in the late 70s - 80s, my mother watching TV and winding copper wire into coils for dad's electronics.

That's what I was thinking that part did Dave, and to me its weird little open hook and the discs below it resemble sewing machine parts that'd hold wire/thread coming from something else. Is there a crank handle on the other side of the big geared wheel like an eggbeater hand drill, that'd make the long shaft spin??

No, and I didn't see a power cord either. It's possible it hooks to another piece? It's so odd, it has my curiosity! Gonna drive me nuts..lol!

Did you see my update on my rachet..turns out it's pretty rare!

Cone spool thread winder . US Navy ? I do not know . I spent four years in aircraft maintenance . I suspect parts are missing to better explain this .

Thanks for the comments. What purpose would this serve for the navy? I guess I automatically assume a ship, but could be a uniform supply?
