Hello Fellow Collectors!
Today we would like to share a New Haven Clock Company model they called the "Oriole" from circa 1911. It was one of a series of Cabinet Clock models that were named with nouns starting with the letter "O". Others were the Orville, Osborne, Orison, Oberlin, Oregon, Ostend and the Oporto. The designs of these clocks employed a similar shape but they were all very distinctive.
The Oriole was described in New Haven's catalog as having a solid mahogany case, measuring 11 1/4" in height, by 18 1/2" in width. The dial is porcelain measuring 6 inches with a French Cast Sash and Beveled Glass. The movement is an 8 day half-hour strike on a "Cathedral Gong". The Oriole originally listed for $20.30. When adjusted for inflation in 2022 dollars that would be in the neighborhood of $600!
The Collectors Weekly website has a compendious write up on the New Haven Clock Company which I invite you to read over if you're interested in the Company's history. It can be found at this URL: https://www.collectorsweekly.com/clocks/new-haven
Here is a Youtube video URL if you would like to hear the lovely, deep, resonant hour and half-hour strike that this model produces:

Very nice ,but this question comes ,from way out in left field
was there a reason for the
O named Series other than o’clock ,,ie- 12O Clock , 1 ....
Other than marketing, I can't think of a reason for an "O" series. Thanks for stopping by and for your "Love it" click!
