I think, but am not certain that this is part of a cast iron stove. I haven't looked it up yet, but that's what it feels like. i grew up with wood stoves as that is how we heated our house and water back east.
Here ya go..

dav2no1, Lordy, that is one long link. };-)
It's not all nonsense-looking like the Google Books search links, however.
Beautiful picture, and it clearly shows a Marquart plaque, and a date of 1899.
Dunno how related this might be, but one Fredrich Marquart has at least one stove patent:

Yeah. I saw the share link after I copied the url. Probably would've been a shorter link. But it got the job done..looks like it... saw the patent link too, but didn't show the plague.
thanks dav2no1! great info and a date to boot! you too keramikos!
dav2no1, Nah, I just checked, and the share link is the same.
It might be a long link, but it's perfectly intelligible.
ho2cultcha, I was just curious as to the history of Champion and Marquart together.
I'm wondering whether it wasn't a case of Marquart being the junior partner, because it was Champion ponying up the funds.
FWIW, I see a number of stove patents out there by Fredrich/Fredrick Marquart.
Thank you keramikos. i have no idea about patents, but i'm pretty familiar w/ wood stoves - from growing up w/ them.
