"The Eatons" is a book which I want to read so I bought this by auction on March 20, 2022. The Eaton family were so called Canada's Royalty who started the Iconic Eaton's Dept. Store chain and more importantly had ran a mail order for over a hundred years +/- or so. They sold everything from the kitchen sink, Sherman Jewellery and of course they even sold entire houses, some rather large ones which they sold every piece ready and cut delivered to you !

There was a poster on CW who had the same name and wondered if it was him who used to work at Eatons but now he still has most of his posts from 5 years ago and I think he wrote the book but not positive. The name matches. He was in Canada also but only his toy collection is left now on this site.

Thank you Jenni, we used to live next door to one of the Eatons in Toronto, but while our house was semi-detached, ours was a nice victorian, his seemed to be attached to several homes.

Wow how cool that is, sound like the American Version of Sears & Robuck Co (SEARS) there is a catalog out there from 1901 (maybe 1910) that shows everything they sold including houses. No Sherman Jewelry I don't think.

A couple models even had sleeping porches:

Thanks Kerakimos, I have a lot of that info in my books on mail order houses, especially the Eaton book on mail order houses. which show the houses well.

      PhilDMorris, You're welcome. :-)

I figured you already knew all about it, but not everybody who looks at this post would, and might enjoy looking at more information about the Eaton model houses.

I was initially a bit surprised to see sleeping porches in house models designed by a Canadian company until I stopped to consider that when you get very far inland, even in Canada, you can encounter what is known as a continental climate where it might become uncomfortably warm in the summer.
