This is the most fascinating stone that I have ever seen. Is this a Boulder Opal? The mottled red has me thrown off. I searched Boulder Opals and didn't see anything like this one. It really delivers the "WOW" factor... Any help from the CW community to confirm this stone's origin would be greatly appreciated.
WOW indeed -- that is a gorgeous stone, whatever it is! How big is it anyway, and what about its setting, is that marked anywhere with anything? PLEASE add another picture or two to show us the whole thing! :-)
Thanks for the comment Obscure... I didn't take the time to clean it up, so didn't focus much on anything but the stone. It is only marked Sterling. The stone measures 7/8" x 3/4".
Thank you for the extra pics, julius0019!! I still don't know what it is, but it is sure gonna look SPECTACULAR when it gets all cleaned and shined up?!! If it was big enough (probably not) and was mine I'd wanna wear something that interesting frequently even if it might look slightly 'off' on my hairy old-man's wrist...people that know me know I'm usually slightly 'off' anyway, and it is certainly cool enough to draw its own attention anyway...? <lol>
I am confident you have a lovely piece of Mexican opal. The whole thing looks Mexican. I have seen similar in my family. Very nice.
Thank you Greenman3000. The stone my be Mexican, but the mark is not typical for Mexican jewelry. I believe that the setting is Native American.
