    Hello,
This doll was purchased by my late grandfather on tour as a Navy Pilot. He collected dolls from around the world from 1925 until 1960.
I appreciate any insight into the country of origin or any identifiable features. Thank you!

He looks like he might be a shepherd, but I don't know from which country... Possibly Hungarian? He looks a bit like this doll (the hat and the cape at least): https://www.etsy.com/listing/462665825/hungarian-shepherd-doll-lenci-type-cloth?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details

The white thing looks like a lamb so I agree he must be a shepherd. He does look very much like the Hungarian shepherd previously noted.

Just posted 2 new photos per Watchsearcher's comment. The lettering on the base is very hard to make out!
      Thank you.

Thanks for the new pictures of the base…I’m no help at all in figuring it out though, even with better pictures.
Is there anything written on the bottom? Any kind of sticker or label?
The lamb is especially sweet, being kept warm and safe under the cloak.

I can't figure it out either. If it ends in -er (it seems to be ending in -er), the doll might be Swiss or German, or Austrian. But it is really hard to figure out. It must have been carved by hand.
