This is the final of my birthday posts.
If I lived in the Northern Hemisphere, my birthday would be in Spring, among blossoming trees, daffodils, & tulips. Indeed, I did experience that once, on holiday in France & England for my 30th in 2003.
What I'm more used to is shorter days, falling leaves, & rain (& we have already had a year's worth of rain so far by now).
So the sight of a daffodil in April is a little strange...though certainly not unpleasant.
This one came to me thanks to the antiques fair I attended last week. It is a spare part from a Murano glass chandelier, made from milky opalescent glass.
It's like the ghost of a daffodil, really, posed in the foliage of newly emerged bulbs which will flower in August/September.
So beautiful!! Hope you had a wonderful birthday!
Many thanks, Scott!
Cool. If I owned this I would stick it in the garden too. Glad you have been enjoying your birthday. You've got a way to go before you catch up with me but I hope you do.
Happy Birthday! Lovely “ghostly” daffodil!
Loooove!..that first photo..
Thanks also, artfoot!
Thanks so much, Patricia!
Much appreciated, Penny!
I just saw Your last, Tall Glass Vase in the Grass post Marin, and I love the way that You have shown this Piece, another Beauty! Bill :^)
Oh! It looks like You had a Happy Birthday! :^D
Many thanks, Bill! I have been trying to do some more outdoors photos of my glass when I can, the issue is the weather - it has been so relentlessly wet here (already had a years worth of rain by now, & many places have endured record floods) that it's been hard to get a sunny day to work with!
And yes, I did have a nice birthday (even though it was raining). I've got a big one next year, so must get planning for that soon, LOL.
Happy Birthday, Marin. The blue tinges in the petals (opalescence?) are especially beautiful. Having just had a big birthday myself I think it's a really good idea to buy oneself a special present!
Ethereal; almost like a night blooming cactus flower. Beautiful!
Thanks so much, Peggy! I couldn't agree more about the special present - & I'm going to have to pull out all the stops next year!
Many thanks, Michelle - a lovely description!
Beautiful daffodil! But afraid I must inform you that Northern Hemisphere springs (Aprils, anyway) are sometimes somewhat overrated. Smiles. We have new snowfall today in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Your “house of glass” must be amazing to see.
