I've had some super finds in op shops over the years, but I think this has been one of the best hauls I've ever bagged.
It all started with the opaque turquoise blue vase back right. I spotted that in the window display of the Cat Defence op shop, so naturally I walked right in & picked it up. On my way to the counter, I noticed the oxblood & white spatter stick vase, & grabbed it eagerly.
As I left, feeling immensely satisfied, I really didn't expect any more out of the day. Surely this was plenty?
Later, before I went to the supermarket, I thought, well I might as well just pop into the Salvos Store, I've got some time to fill in before I get the bus. Goodness knows, I haven't had any finds there in quite a while, but why not?
My nonchalance was rewarded - shortly after entering the shop, I spotted the blue, bottom - up spatter satin glass vase, & next to it, the small white vase with applied cherries.
So, the first of the haul is pictured in more detail in pictures 2 - 4. This vase made from a single layer of opaque turquoise blue "milk" glass & measures 23 cm tall, 4 cm across the top rim, & 7 cm across the base. It features finely detailed enamel decoration.
Bohemian origin, late 19th century.
More (details) to come!
