i'm not sure what this thing is, but it is signed Heath. Those little tiny holes drive me nuts! most all plants really need great big drainage holes so that the soil dries quickly. Any info appreciated...

It looks like the kind of container that goes under the plant to catch water that escapes. I bought a lot of them years ago when I had some large cacti. Don't know why it has the 3 holes though !~

What are the dimensions, ho2cultcha? Is this earthenware? Looks like a glaze on outer rim but not on floor. Hard for me to tell. It’s a nice strong piece, though.

Thx, ho2cultcha. Looks like stoneware and looks to have prox 2” sides. A planter tray shouldn’t have holes unless it sits on top of an excess water absorber-type pad-like bamboo. Style looks somewhat like Edith Heath to me, but those holes!! Aye yi yi. Nothing online regarding model 460. Wonder if it’d be used for open fire cooking, say for pizza or? Thinking the holes could be for venting heat or steam since they’re very small holes. Maybe holes were added post-work by someone along the way for drainage? Just throwing stuff out there. :-)

yeah maybe. the holes are so perfect inside and out and precisely placed, that i think they were done as part of the manufacturing process. there might have been something standing in this which lines up w/ the holes? the sides are more like 4" so it is bigger than it appears.

Yes, quite possibly something stood in its place, another part that went with this maybe? Seems to be not uncommon for metal/silver parts to be missing after years of household use.

Wow! I was way off on the depth of this piece! Thanks for clearing that up, ho2cultcha.
