Elegant is not generally a word I'd use to describe spatter glass, but I think it's appropriate in this case.
Those deep, dark, autumnal tones, combined with mica spangles lift this Victorian vase into a new level.
The vase measures 19 cm tall, 2.2 cm across the cut top rim, & 5.5cm across the base, & is made from a layer of clear amber, over a dark spatter with mica spangles (which look gold due to the amber casing), with a white interior.
Most likely of Bohemian origin.
Very elegant indeed!! Wonderful spatter glass vase.
Many thanks, Scott!
I like this a lot, Marin. I like it for itself and for the fact that I have what might be termed it's 'close cousin' in the post.
Fantastic colours almost like a tigers eye but better with the gold. A special piece, well done finding it Marin!! :)
Thanks so much, Peggy!
Thanks also, Bernard - tiger's eye is a super comparison!
This was a cheapish find on eBay AU, it looked like it had potential in the photos, but turned out way better in person...nice when that happens!
The mushroom shot is superb. The vase really blends in this environment. You have a great eye for these elegant, timeless pieces.
Thanks so much, mcheconi, that is really nice of you to say so!
The mushrooms look poisonous !
That's because they are, Golgatha - they're amanita muscaria or Fly Agaric. Pretty to look at but definitely not on the menu!
