Here's the last minor score of the day from my mom's, an Indian Head penny from 1903. The obverse is pretty weather-worn, but the reverse is almost worse because some sort of clear glue (?) can be seen on the left side and as a drop to the right of the letter "E." The reverse seems like it was less exposed to the elements over the years, which I guess is why it's shinier. I've written and read about these coins before but had never seen one in person. They are so small! Only about 3/4" in diameter.
Hey Cool, Belltown, I just found two today in a bowl of rocks and things, that I bought from a Yard Sale This Morning, a 1906, and an 1865, both just fair condition, buried with 11 other coins, mixed in, I never saw any till I dumped the Carved Wooden Bowl, what I was really interested in, in the first place! Bill :^)
Nice, Bill. I'll keep an eye out for a photo of that bowl!
