This 'Early Loetz' conch shell vase is optically ribbed mould blown by clear glass having an outer case of white opal and an inner case of deminished bright 'Kaiser-Rot' (Emporer-Red) glass. It hase a golden highlighted characteristically toolet rim as could similarly be seen e.g. in PN=I/7784 (1890). This vase stands on two glass feet shaped as they were popular in the 1890's. Lateron Loetz produced numerous conch shell vases, all of which are standing on a glass socket, often decorated by glass corals. A vase of very similar shape could be seen in PN=I/6997 (1897), but omitting the elaborate tooled rim. For a comparison of the 'Kaiser-Rot' glass color, the last foto shows this vase together with a pitcher of the same deminished color (slightly more intense by a thicker inner case and not shaded by opale glass), decorated by Dek=III/23. For most of the 'Early Loetz' vases the PN's remain unknown, from the style of this vase a production in the mid 1880's seems to be appropriate, The vase stands 11 cm high and is 17.5x11 cm long.
