This little handful of old doorknobs probably never went together (but for the two still on their iron rod?) at first, but they look good together NOW -- actually probably prettier than most of the rest of the old doorknobs I've collected over the years. :-)
The white ceramic one is the simplest, it has a solid brass fitting on its back. All the rest are (I believe) referred to as "Eastlake" in their style and are made of brass, one is nickel plated. (I think?) The two tied together with string seem to be alike but for that one of them is the plated one, the little tag on the string is handwritten CLOSET NORTH GUEST ROOM on one side and POTTER PALMER on the other. The two still on their axle don't match, one end just with concentric rings and the other with a fancy design in its center ring.
Very cool pieces

The one with the tag labeled "CLOSET NORTH GUEST ROOM" provides a clue to the financial status of the one-time owner.
It suggests that they had more than one guest room, the one from which this door knob came having been located on the north side of the house. };-)
