Does anyone know what this is? Ashtray? Coaster?

It has a felt back with the following on the back
    Royal Haeger USA
    The Haeger Potteries Dundee Illinois

    It measures 3-1/2" x 7/8"

      Really Interesting

      Hi, losgatosgirl. :-)

That truly is interesting. The finish is rather different for Royal Haeger, isn't it?

As to its use, I tend to think not as a coaster, because of the concave surface. There are no notches or rests in the edges, so that tends to work against its use as an ashtray.

      How about a paperweight?

      Hi, Keramikos =)

Yes, it is different than most Royal Haeger finishes. I've been searching the internet trying to find a similiar piece and have seen some with the same felt backing, but the tops looked nothing like mine.

Yes, it could be a paperweight, or maybe a shallow trinket dish?

losgatosgirl, I think you've hit on it: a trinket dish.
