    Golden Rod Oil Cans

SIZE: 1 quart and 1 pint
    MADE: Dutton-Lainson Co.
CIRCA: my guess is 1940s - 1950s?(Dutton-Lainson name was used after 1939)

Picked up a couple of oilers. Both had remains of oil inside, which I cleaned out with some Brakleen. These oilers still worked and the oil squirted pretty far when the lever was depressed. Both Oilers have long angled spouts.

    HOLD YOUR HORSES
"In 1886, William M. Dutton moved from Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Hastings, where he joined boyhood friends J.H. Haney and W.A. McKey in establishing the J.H. Haney Co. to manufacture horse collars, harnesses and saddles. The business, which had a total of six employees, was at 537 W. Second St."

    WAR HORSE
During WWI, the company had manufactured 5,000 sets of harnesses for the U.S. War Department

    TRADE IN YOUR HORSES
While construction was beginning on their new manufacturing building..."Dutton employee Lainson, who had experience in wholesaling, pointed out that a move from horses to gasoline powered trucks and tractors should be taken into account. His suggestion, which was implemented before construction was completed, was to design the upper floors for hardware wholesaling instead of harness manufacturing."

    FROM HORSE TO HUGE
"When the Dutton Co. purchased the Rose Pump Manufacturing Co. in 1920, their ads said they were “the largest manufacturing plant of any kind in Nebraska.” In 1935, the G.A. Roth Manufacturing Co., which also made pumps but also built air conditioning machinery and lubricating equipment, was acquired and four years later the firm name became Dutton-Lainson. Jaden Manufacturing was purchased in June 1940 and its 1928 factory on West Second was added as a Dutton-Lainson plant."
