I've been cleaning up this old floor lamp of mine and I'd love to know more about it. I got it 2nd hand back in the late 80s, in London. It would have either come from a junk shop, a jumble sale or a skip. It is beautiful chrome, and there is a mark stamped into the Chrome (last pic). It extends up to about 6 feet high maximum. I rewired it several years ago to make it safe. Does anyone recognise the mark? Anyway, it's beautiful, elegant, goes in any home, and I love it. I am guessing it might be 30s era?
I can't help with any ID for it, if nothing else because of its London heritage (wrong side of Planet Earth for me...) but absolutely agree with you about its inherent beauty. I'd wanna wonder if it was made for a hospital/doctor's office/etc purpose simply because it resembles tallish chrome floor lamps made for those environments. (I have one from such use, though not as pretty as yours) No matter the what's and why's of all that -- I'm glad that you saved it from wherever you got it, and likewise appreciate and enjoy it enough to clean it up and add it to your own home...and also that you shared it with all us here at CW S&T. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Thank you for your words! It sits in our house, quietly doing its lampy thing, and I've had it so long I barely give it a second thought, but whenever I give it any attention I'm always struck by the beautiful quality of the chrome, and how well made it is. :-))
