Black panther 5 ft floor lamp. The tree he curls around is painted black base with gold highlights! No maker marks on base. Any confirmed decade of manufacture or manufacturer’s name or any history would be much appreciated. His body is not completely smooth but has some sort of imprint of raised ( leopard) spots, barely visible but it’s there. Do you know where it was made? Was it a high end piece or middle class kitch? Did they make a TV lamp and a matching floor lamp in this panther style? Mahalo in advance for any help ( kokua).
Cool atomic age lamp shade.
Aloha Shelley & welcome to CW. What an absolutely gorgeous lamp, that black panther is truly awesome
There were a lot of companies making lamps during this time and a lot of them were sculptural. Some like the "Continental Lamp Co. Ltd " or "Reglor Lamps" were still doing similar lamps after fall 1967 to the 1979's but probably an early 50's lamp. Another thing to take into your learning is that the companies were also starting to make small tables (composition) about the size of coffee tables in height of only of 17 or 18inches. Unfortunately most of these tables and lamps were not marked. These come and go on the internet as after sold most disappear.
Thank you so much !
Here's a Google Image Search has some but not much info:
