This is a replica of Colima dogs, (Colima, Mexico) found in ancient shaft tombs throughout Mesoamerica They're usually short, squat with very pudgy bellies that stick out on the sides. Some were bred for ritualistic sacrifice, some as watchdogs and some to be consumed as a nutritious source of protein. I found this one in Kentucky a few weeks ago while the World's Largest Garage Sale was going on. It has a stamp on one of the feet that reads Objetivo Odisea/Mexico. I could find nothing on that label with regards to pottery, so unsure of it's definitive origin or age. It's roughly 11L x 6T x 5W
