Appears to be a German reservist decorative canteen. "Saarlouis" is the soldiers name. Looks like there are several versions with various decorations..here's a few variations

Not a German speaking or German military expert...but.."wir deinen treu dem vaterlande" appears to translate to "we thy faithful to the fatherland"..may be part of a German hymn?
The 30 is the regiment number
I believe the rest of the stuff on that side loosely translates to..homeward bound, peaceful journey and souvenir of service. That's my interpretation, but again best guesses with translation and reading on military pieces.
The back side from my translation says something like...happily stuck here..have a cigarette and then a drink and the whole world means nothing to him.
That's as close as I can get you. Not sure if this is some sort of German saying?
