It's a "blue willow" pattern depicted from a famous story that is very significant to Chinese culture, roughly estimated to have been created in the 1780s. The story of the pattern, often found on Chinese porcelain, is that of two star-crossed lovers from two different social classes who fall into a forbidden love. The lovers leave their homes to be together. Later they are tragically killed before being transformed into doves by the gods. You can look up "chinese blue willow story."
Thanks Dk for the extra help & information, only just seen it
