Not exactly sure when this one was made, the date on the base is 1978. But Mattel reissues this from time to time so hard to say exactly when it was made. There were several variations but this is the one I liked because the color was the most faithful to the original 1957 Bel Air. The quality is a bit less than the classic Redlines of a few years earlier. The Redlines just had a je ne sais quois that make them over ten times more valuable than later models.
Now this one has some Redlines heritage as this is the same engine as the Redlines models the Seasider and Sugar Caddy had. It is a nice solid metal injected engine. I have the Seasider in photo #4. The Sugar Caddy is around here someplace and hopefully I can find it soon for a Hot Wheels Wednesday.
Way cool Chevy Bel Air, love the detailing!
