This was a super find on a shopping excursion yesterday!
Found in an eclectic, cluttered shop in Newtown (one of my favourite suburbs in Sydney) this vase jumped into my hands...well, I jumped on it within seconds of walking through the door. It's a BIG unit, bigger than I'd normally want to buy, but when something is this good, you have to make an exception for it! The fact it was also a very reasonable (cheap, actually) price, as well as being in perfect condition, made it even more desirable.
It is made from two layers of cased glass, clear over a milky opalescent interior. Measuring 35.5 cm tall, 5.5 cm across the top rim, & 12.5 cm across the base, it is covered all over in fine, light green veining.
Made by Kralik, circa 1900.
Wow, that's huge! It will dwarf your other lovelies.
On another note: great exhibition Marin, and some good sales there!
Many thanks Karen! :-)
Glad you liked the exhibition, I may post a photo or two here eventually...
