I have recently determined that this is a telephone cabinet made for a Candlestick phone. I think they are rare, no labels of markings on it at all. Has anyone seen this model or have information about it? I am planning to paint it with chalk paint and decorate it but not if it is something rare I should save. Thanks so much!
Seems large for a phone cabinet? What are the dimensions? Can you upload a picture of the back.. curious, if it's a phone cabinet..what is the big hole for? I was thinking radio cabinet possibly?
Hi, thanks for your input. Just the cabinet portion size is 18” wide and 16” tall. The back is just plain but I did just upload a closeup of the back opening for a cord. I thin radios of that era are much too big for the interior and I have seen telephone cabinets with this particular configuration.
Ok. So it's smaller than what the pictures look. You are probably correct that it was a phone cabinet, as those phones were about 10" tall. Would've had a small stool that sat between the legs.
It looks like a humidor to me, or what once was a humidor... For cigars. The inside measurements would be right and the metal inside would be right as well. At least it looks like metal from here.
No metal inside, the opening in the back wouldn’t be a humidor but thanks for taking the time to look and respond.
