If the first Loetz Tango glass emerged in 1914 we can say Tango glass was produced and popular over 20 years. I don't know that all the companies agreed on what was Tango glass specifically, They may have produces glass they called "Tango" that we would not group with Tango today.
In fact I can only recall one company listing Tango in their product line, this was Ernst Steinwald and Co.
The future will be very good for Tango research because examples are easily matched by types and there are many marks to study. There is much more interest in Tango glass today than when I started collecting. For now I only designate glass as Loetz (or commisioned by Loetz)
and Non-Loetz.
This IRONY here is -that true pink vase of my last post has a pontil as smooth as any Loetz Tango vase; I digress here....
In this posts I will focus on a kind if collecting I don't have a high regard for. It is collecting by color(s). I find a wall of ruby glass to be boring and regimented... can you imagine a fantastic hand blown cobalt colored vase rejected because it had a little too much indigo to make the cut?
Anyway, that's just my opinion and it's perfectly fine to disagree.
Here are a few Tango pieces grouped by color. It shows the variation in color from different companies as well as an introduction to grouping by type
Great Tango glass, and you can display it in so many different ways.
I really enjoyed this post - great to see the diversity of Tango glass in both colour & shape. The green ones must be relatively rare, I've never found any examples over my 30 odd years of collecting glass. I have specimens in most of the other colours...pink is my favourite though!
it is true so difficult to know who made the vases but the collection is outstanding
Amazing collection! The master craftsmanship is so obvious!!!
Jericho, even though these are by color and not your preferred choice of display, the diversity of forms you show is wonderful, as is seeing the range of different shades. These are great examples!
