I'd taken this image for a particular purpose but decided to post it here as well. You will have to click on it to enlarge it as the tall shape doesn't fit well here.

Fabulous Welz baskets! What a super collection, Peggy, thanks for this!
Thank you, Marin, after a slow start I've become quite 'into' baskets.
A wonderful collection Peggy. I love how they all seem to be just a little different be it colour or shape.
Nice collection!
Veeeerrrry - nice look at all that color
Yes, BHIFOS, that's very true for various reasons. The lobed base stays as it is when it comes out of the mould. At that point the top part is cylindrical. It is then shaped manually into the designated crimp and shape. Some are crimped but remain vertical. Some are crimped and then folded over to form undulations etc. The 'same' spatters are not always exactly the same either. The shade of a plain colour will vary with the thickness of the wall. And finally the uniformity of the thickness of a handle can vary a lot. Not to mention the number of thorns per inch. All this I've learned from handling the baskets, but if my conclusions are wrong I'd like to be told.
Thank you, Mrstyndall. I'm pleased you like them.
Vynil33rpm, I like any amount of vivid colour, in glass collections and clothes. However my walls, floors and furniture are always pale neutral shades.
Beautiful Welz!!

May be an acquired taste, scott, but I agree.
uah so much to teach us and impressive colleciton
Fantastic collection, everyone different and stunning.
Thank Sylvia, handling glass itself teaches a lot.
Welz made a lot of baskets, Karen. These large ones are my favourites, my bruiser baskets!
Wow - your basket collection has grown! It is really is a wonderful assortment of colors and shapes! :)
What a perfect place to keep them, like it was made to order, they look wonderful altogether.
Indeed it has, Michelle. Not least because Welz baskets are easily found in the U.K. though many are listed as Stevens and Williams.
Inky The shelving was there when I bought the house. I admit I did adjust the shelf spacing to accommodate the varying height of the baskets though!
