Found this on eBay AU, described as a 1950s Murano glass bowl.
This piece looks as though it is missing a part, though it still displays well as a stand alone item. My initial thought was it could be an extra - large fairy lamp base (that stepped inner rim got me thinking). But when it arrived, I started to think it was a trinket bowl of some sort missing a lid. I did try a lid from a Welz trinket bowl of a similar size, but it sat awkwardly inside that very elaborate applied rim. So...the verdict is currently uncertain...any thoughts welcome.
It is made from three layers of cased glass - clear over an intense bright pink with paler pink vertical bands, with a white interior. It measures around 15 cm wide across the top rim, 8.5 cm inside the stepped inner rim (slightly too large for the biggest orphan fairy lamp dome I have), 6.5 cm tall, & 6 cm across the base.
I like the underside of this item a lot - the polished out pontil is white with a tiny pink starburst/daisy shape in the centre - cute!
The top rim has three layers of applied clear leaf decoration (only one lost bit).
The pink glass has quite a few tiny bubbles in it which add a touch of extra sparkle.
Perhaps Bohemian?
