Antique Skull Stick Pin. Red eyes pop out when jaw open up! So unique! Anyone have any ideas what time period this was from?

Can you tell us how the jaw opens to make the eyes pop out? Is it operational while being worn or must it be removed?

@Watchsearcher The eyes pop out only when manually opening the mouth. I believe there was a string originally underneath the lower jaw but has since broken off.
