I was wondering if it is a stamp holder? the back sections look that way, although I have no idea what the front section is .... Love it anyway!
He looks like a tobacco jar ..but you don't say if the top comes off or not?
That is so pretty ..My best guess is Early Victorian or late Georgian
A better shot of the head would be helpful. I was thinking a European cudgel of some sort ??
Suffering huge lamp envy here in Wales UK ..... it seems to have a slightly Aztec or similar look to it ?? Also reminds me a bit of Troika or in the same vein ..Beautiful
I'm wondering if the darker embellishment is silver gone black ..Give the corner a little clean and see
I've added some more images. Looks like glazed stoneware. I doubt there is anything special about it (apart from I liked it) I just wondered why I could not find another one like or similar
apostata ... I'm sure you are right. I wondered if the top section is a handle?? Who knows
There is one on Ebay, the seller thinks it is Japanese https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185918002272
Lots of them 'out there' https://www.ebay.ca/itm/154613790544

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. I'm happy that they are genuinely older chairs, by the general look and feel of them. I think the cane has been replaced on my example too. A friend of min...
kev123 The mark on the base seems to read LAMBIT , the other word maybe China? Google image does not want to help me ... I have tried
There is a mark on the base, I'll add an image.... Thank you!!
It seems the double A mark indicates an early piece ... I found this online with useful info and links to dating Van Briggle https://bungalowclub.org/newsletter/spring-2020/van-briggle-pottery/
It's just a silver bolt ring fastener for a piece of jewellery. I would not have thought it had any value as such
I've gone back to this. I think the inner 'egg' is pumice. I wonder if it is some sort of pomander ... Maybe drip a few drops of fragrant oil inside and it would smell nice ... like a dog with a bone ...
dav2no1 I've swapped a pic for one of the other side, still looking and getting nowhere !1
dav2no1 ...Nothing at all ...You have no idea how cross it's making me !
Watchsearcher ... I agree, I've got some here somewhere. I get bogged down with the detail ... I want to know what it is and how it works
dave21no1 .... So much for my lamp !! The only ones I am familiar with are electric or the radiator hung sort ..Would you have any clue how it would work .... Please ??
They are lovely ...Are they wax or some sort of plastic ?? .. I was thinking shop display
AnythingObscure .. Sorry I've been so long ... I mislaid 'it'. Looking at images 1 & 4, I'd say the grain does not follow through, although there is no glue residue between the top and bottom sections...
vetraio50 ....I thought they were the brothers or family members Fratelli and Antonio Piscitello ... I have been told that the base is marked for Fratelli
The marks look ok. Clean the area and have another try

What an amazing piece ...love it!
My best guess is 60/70 'factory Art'. Painted by one artist or a production line of many artists doing a little bit each. The signature is a fanciful addition. Personally, I like them and the vintag...
Bekssa .... Thank you, I had seen that one, Google lens picked it up, There was lots of this kind of stuff around ack in the day .... I need more patience
blunderbuss2 .... You mean a puzzle ball? Whatever is inside is of a different substance. I wonder if it is meant to have an oil or something poured into it to make a room smell nice ... ??
racer4four ... I do wear it lots .... most people don't like it one bit ...hey ho their problem ...
racer4four ...Your monkey is lovely. ..... Thank you for sharing
