    Two brass sailing ships ...the first one has hooks, the second, The Mayflower is I think is the top of something ... both came from a junk shop in Wales. Any ideas very much appreciated

      The one with hooks..are both those pictures the same side? What does the base look like? Can the hook base be installed upside-down? I did see some ship with coat hooks in a search..

      Nice!! I believe these were marketed as “Old Iron Sides” in the late 1920’s. But, I could be wrong about that. There is a set of bookends that are nearly identical, but with different bases.

      I agree it's a very odd base..like it fit onto something else? And it appears to have a set screw on the back, which makes it not super old..
