I'm not sure what these things are called, but they are for wooden cart wheels 0 i think. Kind of sculptural / old industrial look. This is a small one. I have some really large and old ones at the nursery.
what category would you put this in?
A wood wheel hub? Is that what you were trying to say? The center if the wheel.m
Thanks dav - that IS what i said. in the title anyways. there might be a particular name for these too. I think i've seen the larger ones in collections before.
It's odd the spoke holes are not symmetrical. They are off set back and forth..
It's late..I missed the title..lol
I would start research with spinning wheel pictures. Focusing on the hubs. The metal ends seem very light sheetmetal. Also consider wheel barrow or light carts
thanks dav and Motoolz. the sheetmetal is quite thick and strong - much more so than sheetmetal, but it is a small hub - probably had iron spokes. the spoke holes are go back/forth like in this photo: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/antique-steel-12-spoke-wagon-wheel-1839613339
