Well there I was walking amongst the pebbles on the beach at East Wymess in Scotland looking for whatever interesting things had washed up, when I found this large heavy key. As you can see from the picture on the 7" vinyl, it is big, and seems to be made of either brass or bronze. I have absolutely no idea how old it is, but given the state it is in I would guess it's been in the sea for quite a long time.
I haven't the foggiest idea what the key would be for, and I haven't tried to clean it, it is the way I found it. If you light that would be great!
Some kind of locking latch. Is hammer like end heavy?

To me, it looks like part of something else. I also looked at some ship bell clapper..
Actually I never thought of it as part of something else. Gives me an avenue of investigation anyway. Thank you!
