funny I saw the back of this lamp and thought it was a Bitossi piece and then I spun it around to find a far better piece

strangely enough I bought it on Portobello Rd in London

the seller was explaining to me that it was German -made from such and such company..............................

I was like sure it is, how much?

      modfather, Way cool. :-)

I love that the little color insets are translucent, and glow when illuminated. <3

A couple different sources say Accolay is French:

      This one shows your lamp!:

thank you of course they are French ;-)

I knew exactly what is was when I saw the hammered glass

Accolay became well-known when they started making ceramic buttons for Christian Dior clothes in the late 1940s

      quite a collectible

I posted another Accolay piece a few weeks back that I recently learned was part of a exclusive series of zoomorphic designs

modfather, This was perhaps another example of meaning getting lost in text. };-)

I hadn't realized that you recognized the maker of the lamp base as soon as you saw the glass insets.

Although I love ceramics, I'm very far from being an expert, and had to look up Accolay:

      https://www.accolay.com/pages.php?lg=en&groid=87&medid=

Try as I might, I can't find your post of an zoomorphic Accolay piece. All I could find was your post of the vase with the orex figures:

yes that Accolay vase was my first from them and I had no idea who the maker was

and apparently they are not gazelles as I thought but Alpine Ibex ;-)

      modfather, Yeah, thanks. :-)

I knew what zoomorphic meant, and found plenty of zoomorphic Accolay pieces out there in the wilds of the Internet, e.g.:

      https://latelier55.com/shop/buy-vintage-designer-ceramics/accolay-vintage-ceramics/zoomorphic-accolay-ceramic-pitcher/

I just couldn't seem to find your post of a zoomorphic Accolay piece.

thanks again I was questioning if I was was getting the definition of zoomorphic correct ;-)

so the ibex (gazelle) piece was my first from Accolay

however my main interest is lighting and when I researched Accolay I was fascinated with the lamps (particularly the ones with glass inserts), was sort of surprised to find such a cool piece in London for pennies

I like this piece more as an accent lamp rather than setting it up with a light shade and the necessary fittings, both the glass and perforations in the ceramic give off a pleasant light effect

interesting that these colored glass pieces (what I thought) are actually fractal resin, this is per a French lighting expert
    10. keramikos, 2 years ago
modfather, Hmmm, resin instead of glass. That is interesting.
