This original watercolor by regional artist Gary Wester has a visible area of a bit more than 10" x 13". It is probably 11" x 14" under the mat. It has been professionally matted and framed using archival materials and UV glass. The whole painting looks new minus a few scrapes on the frame.
Gary Wester is a local artist who I have had my eye on for several years. He is quite successful and his work during the time that I have been watching him has been fairly expensive, especially for something that I do not have room to display.
I found this watercolor at a local upscale thrift shop for $6.99 but it was half off day, so I got it for half of that minus my veteran's discount, so I did not pay much for it. I seldom go to this thrift shop as their prices are generally high. I was surprised to find this painting on the floor, leaning against a piece of furniture.
It is over 30 years old, and Wester's style has changed quite a bit since then, but this older style is reminiscent of California watercolors of the 1950s which I collected for several years, so I am happy with it.
Gary has a web site, but it is unreachable. The errors that I am getting suggests that there is probably some problem with his SSL certificate, so no one trying to connect to this web site can do so. He is probably wondering why no one talks to him anymore!

After some bitter contract negotiations which went to arbitration, Amanda got a new contract with a clawse guaranteeing her most prominent placement in at least one image on CW for each post that she directs (Thanks BHIFOS!). Not sure if she has learned to read or has hired someone to do it for her. She is a bit miffed in the photo in this post as I reminded her who opens those little cans for her.
Thanks dav2no1, Kevin and vcal!
I love this painting with no face detail and yet a touch of endearing naivety in the exquisite style. A very happy emotion is given here. Incredibly superb !~
?????????????
hmm CW doesn't like emojis.......anyway glad to hear negotiations went well for Amanda :)
Lovely sailing scene, he's a very talented artist. Adorable Amanda does look a tad suspicious of your camera that day lol :)
congrats
Thanks for your comments PhilDMorris! I like it a lot.
Thought is might take you a few minutes to figure that out, BHIFOS!
Thanks for your comments, Jenni. He got a lot better in the last 30 years! I hope Amanda does not hold a grudge!

My dad painted that! He passed away in March 2022 after being diagnosed with glioblastoma the prior December. My mom discontinued his website earlier this year. His artwork definitely evolved over the years and I remember this one!
Thanks for posting this information, heatherf. I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I heard only good things about him.
