I scored these charming pieces of Victorian art glass at last weekend's monthly antiques fair.
Small, cute...& cheap to boot! :-)
They are both made from clear glass with very fine applied machine threading in ruby (looks pink though).
The crocus shaped vase measures 10 cm tall, 4 cm across the top rim, & 5.3 cm across the footed base.
The shell vase measures 7 cm in length, 4.5 cm across the cut & polished opening, & 5 cm tall.
Both in perfect condition with no chips or losses to the threading.
Most likely of English manufacture, circa 1880s. Could be Richardson's, Stuart, or Stevens & Williams, etc.
Exquisite!
Many thanks, Bernard!
I have to say that I find the shell absolutely adorable, silly as it may seem!
Thanks so much, Peggy - & no, it's not silly at all! It's one of the cutest pieces of Victorian (or any other) art glass I've ever seen. To think that it & it's crocus - like friend have survived around 140 years & still look so fresh & charming is a wonder indeed. I feel most fortunate to be their new custodian!
FABULOUS !!!!
Many thanks, Kevin!
