This is a really interesting vase I won on eBay AU recently.
It had attracted several bidders but I managed to score it right at the last second.
And I think it's easy to see why it attracted all the attention - it's definitely something special & different!
It is made from cased glass - a light creamy yellow over a white interior. The outer layer has a uranium content, as does the translucent applied foot. At the top, the light yellow shades to a band of pink. Despite a superficial similarity to Burmese glass (uranium custard - yellow shading to pink), this vase isn't an example, due the inner lining of white (Burmese is a single layer glass). The pink is also not softly shaded like Burmese glass, rather, a clearly defined band. An interesting aspect of this pink band is that there is another thin band within it that appears to "glow" orange - pink in daylight - clearly seen in the first photo.
The vase measures 15 cm tall, 8 cm across the wavy, trefoil crimped top rim, & 6.5 cm across the applied footed base, which has a pontil mark. The footed base is interesting too, with a strong green glow under UV light. The colour in daylight is hard to define - not exactly yellow, green, or clear.
The satin finish is ultra smooth, unlike later satin glass from the mid - 20th century onward, so I believe it to be old, possibly Victorian,
Not having seen anything quite like it I'm not sure where it is from or who might have made it.
The vase is in perfect condition.

A very tasty acquisition, IronLace! Is the pontil polished, circular and relatively large? I thought it was Webb when I first saw it before reading the description.

      Many thanks, Russel117!
Yes, it did initially strike me as a sort of Burmese type glass until I clocked the white interior casing. I have a fair bit of Webb (& other) Burmese so am familiar with the characteristics. The pontil on this is not polished out, but not a rough scar either. Just a slightly textured one which is somewhat ambiguous in terms of origin.
