Hello everyone!!
I hope you all had some good quality family time during the Christmas weekend. Here's another item I was gifted with this Christmas. It's a balance rocker toy depicting a gentleman on a fox hunt. It's made of iron and the ball on the end of the rocker is solid. These were popular toys in the 1800's and early 1900's. I feel certain that this one is a reproduction, but still a wonderful piece. The two pieces are not attached. The horse balances on the stand and once it's moved, it begins to rock back and forth for quite a while. So, even a fun toy for me. It stands 18 1/2" tall and the horse is 13" long. The last pic shows how we display this.
Thanks for stopping in for a look!!

Thank you all very much for the loves, comment and for stopping in!!
What a perfect gift for you. Looks like hours of battery free entertainment!
I love balance toys but these ones started coming out in the 90's actually. All the real ones I have seen have had more condition issues. The older ones from the 70's I have seen were about 7 inches taller, and simpler. They are reproducing those of the 70's but now they are just less than 3 1/2 inches. I only have seen 3-4 actual older balance toys and I have been collecting them too since 1977.
Thanks Dave!! Yes, it's definitely hours of battery free entertainment. Fun to watch!!
Thanks Phil!!
Yes, I've only seen one original and, like you mentioned, it had some real condition issues as well. I do still love these reproductions. I really liked this one, as I hadn't seen many like this one.
Very cute & clever piece, I would be entertained for hours - love fox hunt items. Great gift Scott!
Thank you Jenni!! I've already had a couple of friends try and talk me into giving it to them. But, not a chance is this one leaving my house:)
