...when he was "just" German Joseph Ratzinger. The passport is from 1998, issued by the Vatican in Rome.
I have one Vatican passport from 1964 in my collection, which is a special one (and even rarer) as only given to delegates to the 2nd Vatican Concillium (1962-1965).
John XXIII (pope during the preparations and the first session) opened the council on 11 October 1962, and Paul VI closed it on 8 December 1965. (pope during the last three sessions, after the death of John XXIII on 3 June 1963).
