Many think the oldest figures are the most valuable but in the case of the Johnny West series of figures it was the latest. These were sold from 1975 until 1977 when the company went out of business. At that point the owner was Quaker Oats who stayed in business but they shut down Marx Toys. Marx had been the largest toy company in the world at one point but things change sadly. The Best of the West series boxes may be rarer but this series featured different colors so they are the most desirable among collectors.
Geronimo does not have many of the accessories but at the price I paid that is ok. I managed to get enough together to make him presentable. Geronimo was cast in a very orange plastic color. Luckily he is a bit dusty which tones down the bright orange a bit. Also the accessories are yellow for the soft plastic and brown for the hard plastic. The yellow pieces are valuable as they would normally be brown.
2 posts from now will be # 3,000. I am sure it will be spectacular.
This is great! The original box, instruction sheet and all.
Thank you very much Scott. See part 2 for the horse.
