    Here's a bacchanal with Bacchus at the center. In the background are some worshiping someone on a pedestal. They all seem to be drunk. Early 18th century. Oil on canvas. 55 cm x 50 cm. A smaller version, without the upper third, was sold at Sotheby's, New York in 1999 as a Gerard Hoet (1648-1733). So which one is the original ?

      I love it Golgatha and you never know. It could be a study to the original or vice versa. :)

      Thanks mikelv85 for the comment. I consulted a knowledgable, foreign university art historian. He answered that he could imagine that both paintings are by GH.
