Hello people on CW I hope your all well it's been a while since I have posted. I recently bought this enormous ring, I was wondering if anyone would have any idea about it. It was sold to me as 18th century, silver gilt and Opal, maybe of French origin's. In my opinion the ring as been hand crafted (engraved) with lovely decoration around the mount and floral decorations to both of the shanks, unfortunately there are no markings, which I think would be in keeping if it was from the 18th century.
Many thanks in advance.
That is one very unique and beautiful ring! I love it. So glad to see you posting on CW again.
Gorgeous !
Hi Scott, thank you for your comment. I took the the ring to my jewellery, he said that he thought it was a reproduction maybe 60-70 years old, probably from continental Europe. ????
Thank you for your comment Manikin.
Stunning antique ring, the engraving is lovely and the green stone is mesmerizing
Hi Newfld,
Thank you for your lovely comment, it’s much appreciated. My jeweller seems to think this black Opal doublet was a later addition and there was another stone before, how he know’s this I haven’t a clue LOL.
Wow, I can see this from Aus, Jean!
It certainly looks very old, and even if it is repro there is a lot of ring here.
Hi Karen,
Yep I bet you could see it from Oz it’s bling ring lol.
