Vintage copper ashtray or pin tray with bear design

This unsigned ashtray or pin tray is made of copper and is about 5 inches in diameter. It features a repoussé image of an animal -- probably a bear. The underside of the tray shows the bear in negative relief. The tray is roundish but features six "lobes".
(For categorization, I am calling this an ashtray, but it lacks the usual cigarette-shaped indentations. Possibly it's a pin tray or card tray?)
Anyway I can't remember where I got this, nor have I any idea how old it is, where it's from or who made it. I'm not even sure how to describe the style. I just know I find the design very pleasing. It's a mystery!
