This is a really charming little item found on eBay AU, from the same seller as the last two pieces I've posted.
It was described as a card holder, & to me that seems probably correct. I will also say that I've never seen anything quite like it, which made it pretty appealing.
It is made from a pale green glass with a martele pattern & an iridescent finish. It measures 5.5 cm tall, 7.5 cm across the top rim, 3 cm deep, & 9 cm across the applied, footed base. There is a small pontil scar on the base.
Under UV light there appears to be a slight response around the edges but not enough to convince me of a uranium content of any note.
Possibly by Kralik, circa 1900.
Love the iridescent green on these Bohemian items. My daughter found a pelaton vase today in a local op-shop! She knew what it was and the other punters didn't and purchased it for half the price on the sticker- $5. The vase had a lovely, ruffled top, optic ribbing and plenty of colored threads. I note that you have something very similar in your own collection when I checked. It could be my Father's Day present!
Many thanks, Russel117!
The vase sounds like a great find, looking forward to seeing a photo!
Very interesting piece..I was guessing cracker holder..
Thanks also, dav2no1!
The size of this item is perfect for business cards. I can imagine it sitting on an elegant desk or counter back in the day.
