Every real sign collector needs an old porcelain barber chair somewhere and since I had one in storage I figured it was time to get it out and display it in an entry vestibule for the new Lakeside Museum Event Center. We had this in our cabin for many years but when we started thinking about maybe selling the cabin I decided to remove the cool Barber Chair. It needs a little repair on the upholstery but is in pretty nice shape otherwise. Yes the arms and base are porcelain.
Mine has the date written on the bottom of the seat. 1929
Trey,
Seems like I saw a date on this but forgot about it. I’ll check it when we get home. Thx
Friend of mine had one of these chairs he picked up 20+ yrs ago, and I was like..."what's he going to do with this?" He has since passed and now his kids have it.
My barber has told me these chairs are much better built than the ones today!
Sambo42xxa,
U probably also wonder what we are gonna do with all the old porcelain signs we have hanging from the ceiling and on the walls? Very good question. My wife has the same question. The barber chair I can sit on, the signs? Hmmm? Expensive Barn patches?
