This "pair" of Carl Sorensen vases were an interesting find.
I found one vase at a local antique store. I usually don't buy "one of a pair" items, but with a $15 price tag; I went ahead and made the purchase.
It couldn't have been more than 2 months later and I was at an antique mall about 100 miles away. I found the second vase. It was reasonably priced at $50 and I was fairly certain it would make a pair.
When I got it home, I noticed it was slightly different from the first one (verdigris band between the bronze bands, second from top is slightly smaller on one example). However, the differences are barely noticeable and they look great on display on the mantle.
With a total price tag of $65, I am very happy with the vases!
For those not familiar with Carl Sorensen, he was an early 20th century metal craftsman. His signature pieces are bronze with verdigris patination. He worked in Pennsylvania and his pieces have a fairly strong following.

Yes, I think it was meant to be.
I would usually pass on the one vase, but I am very happy that I made the exception this time!
