When they have a successful drilling program or at the end of the production station build they give out souvenir's to the staff on the job and company executives.
I got this one at a garage sale here in New Plymouth and the lady selling it asked did I now what it was shaped like and I said of course its a pig!
A pig is used for cleaning out pipelines, they put it in one end and then push it through with air pressure. When they do it on commissioning a new pipeline it can be interesting and sometimes embarrassing for some to see what comes out, esp if it is tools and they have names on them :)
The chamber in the head is filled with some condensate from a well, it's quite waxy and doesn't flow.
Interesting piece, thanks for explaining it.
Some items just need to start talking !~
