Pierre Jules Mêne Arab Falconer on Horseback Bronze Statue

I won a storage auction the other day and found this packaged away, wrapped up in sweatshirts. This statue came from the Pappas estate. This thing is HEAVY! Felt like 80 or so pounds. I threw my back out hauling it, and everything else I picked. Long story short I can’t finish the clean out, and won’t be getting the cleaning deposit back (oh well). While I pray for my back and knee to recover let’s get into this and the other finds!

Everything about this statue is detailed. The wrinkles in the man’s clothing, the saddle and bags, the horse, , the terrain, and falcon are beautifully detailed. It’s definitely bronze, got a bit of oxidation. The falcon unfortunately was glued on the hand and feel off when I was loading it into my vehicle. But hey I can always get it repaired, and a lot of the times I’ve seen ones with a missing falcon in general. So I believe this is a complete piece. It is signed P.J. MÊNE on the base. Height 27” Length 31” Width 11” . Didn’t want to haul it to the photo room so it’s sitting on my bedroom floor till further notice. I’m aware how much these statues fetch at auction, so I’m every bit as skeptical, yet hopeful as everyone else.
