Family Steamer Trunk

Hello, my parents allowed me to take this truck that has been in the family on my McCarthy side. My mother believes it was her grandparents’ trunk, my grandfather was born 1917, so his parents would’ve been born around 1885 ish. But we actually do not know how long it has been in the family. I’m just looking for any hints on age, or any type of cultural history I can glean from it. My great great grandparents did arrive through NY from Ireland I 1885-1888. Thanks to any insight. I’d like to have a context when passing it along to my son.
