Been in the family since the 40's. Apparantly Granpa aquired it in HK pre WW11. There used to be 8 0r 10 cups. Mom can't remember. All the glasses are different dimensions and the engraving is slightly different on each one. The decanter with stopper is about 13" high and the cups about 2 1/4"
Very unusual set, gorgeous !~
Thanks for the reply and yes it is very unusual...which is about the same answer I have been getting for about a year now. Nobody seems to know the origin of this piece. Will probably have to spend some money and get an "expert" to take a guess...Have a great 4/20
I don't think it's Japanese, although because I know so little about Chinese glass I can't rule them out.
The number of 6 glasses , the colour of the Jadeite glass, and the shape of the bottle and stopper do not indicate Japanese to me.
I am thinking it's more European made in a Japonais style of decor.
I really appreciate all the replys to this post. Thanks. There were 8 glasses to begin with from what Mummy says..lol. Every glass is different. No makers mark anywhere. It is a mystery. Cheers.
