Pictured is a standing fireplace crane from the mid 1800's. they were often used in front of a walk-in fireplace to cook the family meal.
This crane is hand forged from wrought iron. No screws, nails or rivets were used in its construction. I have some items hung on the crane to simulate the items that were used to cook your meals on a crane such as this.
Photo #4 shows the penny feet that were prominent on early and mid 1800 cranes as they were on the tin kitchen or reflector oven of the time. (I have such a reflector oven that I posted eight years ago, look it up, an interesting kitchen tool for the times).
